Emma + Micah | Charleston Wedding | The Citadel Square | Rice Mill Historic Venue | Allie Miller Weddings | Charleston Wedding Photography | NC Wedding Photographer

In the words of our couple:

Emma:

I met Micah on January 8, 2023, at a young adult's worship night hosted by friends from our church. I was still new to the church, so of everyone there, I only knew the friend who invited me. Micah came in a little late and played his violin as we sang. I remember the first thing I ever heard Micah say was something he'd learned from a former pastor: 'If we die to ourselves every day to live for Jesus, then the reality of ever having to surrender our lives for Jesus' Name would be easy because we would have done it every day before then.' I was so encouraged and impressed by his words of wisdom!

After we were done singing, I was introduced to Micah, and we immediately hit it off.

I met many people that night but probably talked to Micah more than anyone else. Besides putting me on the spot to share an embarrassing story with everyone, Micah made me feel welcomed and at ease.

I called my mom after the event to tell her how it went and said, "I really like that lawyer guy!"

Micah:

Unsurprisingly, I met Emma on January 8, 2023, at a young adult's worship night hosted by friends from our church. I drove back from Greenville, SC that afternoon with violin in tow for the gathering and arrived late. So, I quickly went inside, unpacked my violin, and joined the musicians playing music.

My eyes wandered while playing, and I noticed Emma standing in the back of the room, but I could not see her very well, and my attention soon came back to the next song we were singing.

Afterward, I went to the back of the room, which was by the kitchen, to grab a drink and met this beautiful, gentle, sweet, kind... (insert all the positive adjectives) Emma Wood.

She told me she was from Auburn, AL, to which I quickly responded that I rooted for the real tigers (LSU, of course), and our conversation continued toward other matters.

We soon parted to other areas of the room, but later that evening, I spoke to a mutual friend of mine and Emma's and asked, "Who is that girl?" It only took one more time to talk with her before I decided to ask her out, and on the charmed third interaction,

I asked her to coffee, and she accepted.

The rest is history (for more details, feel free to ask me, and I will probably take several hours to tell you about how God brought us together!... Not really joking!).

Allie:

Emma contacted me, and usual inquiry - I attempted to connect right away via phone. In a quick call, I gathered that she was sweet, caring and incredibly calm. With only 8 months to have a wedding planned... She knew what she wanted. A week later, we set up a discovery call and, questions were answered - Her day would be split between a ceremony at their church and reception at The Rice Mill in Charleston. And, after assessing the needs for the day, and in a cheerful way she called back and said - I'd love for you to be wedding photographer! - I said: YES! There were no doubts they would be the couple for me...

Fast forward, August - We celebrated! Started with a rehearsal dinner the night before with much of the beautiful energy of the Godly presence in every word, movement and thought. This was their weekend, no questions!

Saturday morning, we met at the beautiful Citadel Square Baptist Church on Meeting St in Charleston, SC - This gorgeous historical church has its own groom/bride suites - and a beautiful praying room - where it was chosen to capture Emma's bridal gown and, with Kassidy B [church's residency + Young Adult Resident] assistance with all the coordination and kept all the dynamics for this secret passing of the hall - making sure the groom would not see prior to ceremony - smooth and quiet as both suites are not far apart.

Emma's mother with the help from the Maid-of-honor, Catherine helped her get ready for her ceremony. Her mom, had a piece of a wedding gown as an heirloom to carry with her, it was attached to the lining of Emma's gown.

Bog shout out to Catherine, [Maid-of-honor] who went above and beyond the whole day through [ HINT: every bride should have a Catherine!]

And, after some first looks and pictures with her bridesmaids, it was time for a first look with her father [who brought her a penny - HINT - find it in pictures below] and, lastly a first look with her brother, who by the way brought a medley of flowers with dahlias for his sister. You can quite imagine, it was such an exchanges... Loaded with emotions.

The ceremony was beautiful. Micah's 2 brothers, his sister and sister-in-law played lovely music during the processional, seen at the altar is a cross decorated with the most beautiful mix of florals and greens. Emma and Micah shared a first look as she walked down the aisle with her father. A lovely ceremony service by the church's pastor, Steve H. A very lovely prayer with both their parents was shared. After their exit, formal portraits for family/bridal party proceeded at the church and after we headed to the venue, but first and, on the way to it, we opted to take Broad St, and snapped a few pictures... We had fun!

The Historic Rice Mill was beautifully decorated, as planner Michaelene Mroz with Jour De Reve Events and her team dressed the room with rentals from Simply Elegant Rentals, and greenery by Coastal Creations Floral, delicious cake by The Cake Stand in Charleston along with delicious food by the Holy City Hospitality catering team

This hot and humid Saturday day quickly turned into a rainy evening, but inside the Rice Mill some dances were shared between the newlyweds as well as a special dance between Emma and her father.

After dinner, dancing and bouquet tosses were part of the night that ended with a last song, and one last private last dance between Emma and Micah.

The grand finale: an exit under pom-poms - Micah is a big LSU fan, and Emma a big Auburn fan, so they had some orange/blue and purple/gold shakers for guests to use at the send off, it was the most fun for all.

Now, they are enjoying some vert well deserved R&R on their honeymoon!

EnJoy!
